The first nationwide network of Brazilian mental health professionals in the U.S.
By Brazilian Mental Health Professional Collective · Founded in 2025 · Updated 2025
Connect with professionals who understand your journey and access licensing resources, events, professional development, and a Professional Network created to strengthen the Brazilian mental health community across the United States. BMHP is the first nationwide organization dedicated to connecting, supporting, educating, and representing Brazilian mental health professionals across the United States.
Who is BMHP and why was the collective created?
Before 2025, a Brazilian psychologist practicing in the US often felt like an island. They had to manage complex cases without a network to discuss clinical approaches, and navigated state board requirements entirely on their own. Lidiana Cartolano and Cristina DaSilva navigated these same lonely waters. After years of rebuilding their own careers in a new country, they felt an urgent need to create a map and a support network for those who would follow the same path. In 2025, in Florida, that initiative became the Brazilian Mental Health Professionals Collective (BMHP).
Under the leadership of Lidiana Cartolano and Cristina DaSilva, what began as an informal group has matured into a solid institution. We aim to connect psychologists, therapists, physicians, nurses, allied professionals, and mental health students across the United States. We share an ethical commitment and a passion for human care, and we support professionals at every stage of their journey—including those licensed in the United States, those pursuing U.S. licensure, students, and professionals trained in Brazil.

How does BMHP help with U.S. licensing research?
Professional licensing requirements in the United States vary by state, educational background, and area of practice. According to official state boards—for example the Alabama Board of Examiners in Counseling— each jurisdiction maintains its own rules. BMHP’s Licensing Center gathers helpful resources and direct links to official licensing boards in all 50 states and Washington, D.C., so members can verify details with each board and plan next steps with greater clarity.
